Although, I’m very late but I still feel that Virushka wedding is worth talking. Here is my crux which I have collaborated to give you a glimpse of Virushka wedding in detail. And it goes like this.
Speculations were already in air that a leading lady of Bollywood is going to tie the knot with present day Indian Cricket captain in December 2017. No guesses there. It’s Anushka Sharma and Virat Kohli. And it did happen. After four years of dating each other, the finally got married on Dec 11th, 2017. Woohoo!!
With social media getting into frenzy, using #virushkawedding and their wedding photos everywhere on the digital media; it was more than just a wedding. So let’s dive into the details of the wedding and other wedding functions.
1. Virushka Wedding Venue
They ended up choosing one of the most expensive hotels in the world, Borgo Finocchieto in Tuscany, Italy. Not that the place was already magnificent, the wedding planning company decorated the place such that it was treat to the eyes! (Obviously in pictures :P)
2. Wedding Outfits
For three different occasions, they chose three different types of outfits by the label Sabyasachi Mukherjee. Anushka dazzled in each of them, be it the Gulkand Burgundy saree or the boho chic floral top and fuchsia pink lehenga or the most liked pale pink lehenga with floral motifs and signature Sabyasachi jewelry. She rocked it like a diva!
Virat on the other hand chose subtle but royal outfits for all events and looked charming as always.
FYI, the buttons on Virat’s wedding outfit were 18K gold. Claps!!
3. The reception
Since, the wedding merely had family and close friends. It was obvious that reception would shine with all the stars from cricket and movie industry. So there were not one but two receptions. Now that’s a splurge!
With Prime Minister Narendra Modi blessing the couple at the Delhi reception, almost every big name in the movie industry marked their presence at the Mumbai reception held recently. From Shah Rukh Khan grooving with the newly-weds, there were others like Amitabh Bachchan and his family, Karan Johar, Katrina Kaif, Kangana Ranaut, Rekha ji, Madhuri Dixit Nene, Sridevi and the list goes on..
Also, many cricketers attended the program including Sachin Tendulkar & family, Shikhar Dhawan, M.S. Dhoni, Sourav Ganguly, Yuvraj Singh et cetera, et cetera.
4. The Senti Song
Here we come close to the topic. While Anushka was walking down the aisle, the Jasleen Royal version from her movie Phillauri, Din Shagna da was being played. It left almost every girl and some guys almost on the verge of crying and the song became one reason for this.
And after watching the same happening with one of my sensitive friend, one thing was sure; there is no certainty that a person is going to shed tears for people who are suffering around the world, but a celebrity wedding does it all. This might be because there is no background music while attacks or natural calamities happen.
It is obvious to feel good after looking at the wedding pictures and videos but over sensitizing the event was too much. In addition to that, I heard a girl telling his boyfriend to get married the same way with the same theme and lehenga as soon as possible. My blessings are with you boy!
So the point is the wedding termed as “Wedding of the decade” had hit people in their minds and hearts so hard, it would seem impossible to get over it but only until another famous celebrity couple gets married.
This has just become a fad and people can’t resist obsessing over such things. I remember, there was Shahid-Mira wedding and also the Bipasha Basu-Karan Singh Grover’s #monkeywedding that made the buzz and were touted similar names. How many weddings will qualify the title ‘wedding of the decade’? Pheww!
Virushka wedding was gratified with a series of enormous features. From a soul-stirring wedding venue to a couple of receptions; and again followed by a series of viral photos on the internet. It is equitable that people will remember and talk about Virushka wedding for the next whole decade.
I also admit that no one including me could stop scrolling through the wedding photos; and looking at each photo closely. Happy scrolling!
