Tunisia-based telecom VAS content aggregator that offers a platform for content creators and startups to sell their products in gaming, VOD, and utility to mobile network operator’s clientele, today announced that the company has raised a six-figure sum in its Pre-Series A funding round from Oman Technology Fund (OTF) and some angel investors. However, the amount of investment is not disclosed yet. This is the second investment of OTF in Galactech since it invested $200K in the startup last month.
Founded by Houcem Maiza and Sarra Messaoudi in 2016, Galactech operates in aggregating entertainment services ranging from video games to VOD and MOD through telecom operators in Africa and the Middle East in partnership with content creators and startups in the region.
The company in a statement shared plans to utilise the fresh funds towards tapping into lesser-explored regions, geographical expansion and offering new innovative solutions.
The company has signed contracts with over 30 international telecom operators and projecting the launch of a series of premium VAS gaming services in the African continent and MENA region. And with that in mind, Galactech being a pan-African startup is expecting a spectrum of opportunities moving forward.
Through its OMG portal, Galactech gives developers the chance to make more profit and monetize their games by publishing them on the portal, beyond traditional outlets such as the Play Store and App Store. This will also pave the way for the company to boost the local economy and the mobile gaming ecosystem – empowering young independent developers, and students.
Besides this, Galactech was selected for the second edition of Orange Fab Tunisie in December 2019, an acceleration and support program for startups, that helped the company to establish itself as a pioneer in content aggregation, publishing, and distribution, in alignment with the group’s vision in order to revolutionize the value-added services industry.
