DubaiStore, a UAE-based e-commerce platform that synergises growth for small and medium businesses has been launched by Dubai Economy Solutions (DES) which is a joint venture of a technology consulting company Emaratech and the Department of Economic Development of Dubai (DED). The platform will enable businesses to showcase their inventory and surpass competition from big e-commerce players.

The initiative aims to provide a seamless and pleasant online shopping experience to customers whilst giving small and medium businesses their market share.

The platform exhibits a huge range of products including electronics, beauty & fragrance, home & kitchen, baby products, fashion accessories and more. The platform is designed to promote local licensed businesses with no conflict of interest with the sellers since it does not own or sell any products of its own.

Commenting on the launch, Abdallah Hassan Ahmed Hassan, CEO of Digital Economy Solutions (DES) in a statement said,

“Following the directives of H.H. Sheikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council, who launched in 2019 the emirate’s e-commerce strategy that aims to strengthen Dubai’s status as a global logistics platform and accelerate online commerce growth, DES has developed a smart strategy to drive growth and support economic diversification in Dubai.”

“DubaiStore is a true example of DES and the government’s local contribution in accelerating the strategic plans and smart government initiatives aiming at digital transformation in Dubai. Our objective is to offer a business model that increases a healthy competition in the market for the benefit of the ecommerce world, while maintaining the best environment for safe and trusted shopping,”

DubaiStore claims that it is the first marketplace in the region that keeps the interest of SMEs and ensures that no counterfeit or fake products are being sold on the platform as it onboard only licensed businesses of UAE.

Licensed sellers can create their respective microsites on the DubaiStore, upload products, process orders and collect payments seamlessly. The company takes care of the logistics by picking products from the sellers and delivering it to the customers through its own courier company.
