Finland, the world’s happiest country for five years running, wants now to share its secret happiness skills with the world. Visit Finland is seeking participants from around the world for an in-person Masterclass of Happiness at the Kuru Resort in the Finnish Lakeland in June.

Finland will be the first country ever to host its own masterclass. The experience will bring together the lucky participants and expert coaches who will guide them towards a balanced way of life that helps them be happy the Finnish way. The coaching covers four key themes which include nature and lifestyle, health and balance, design and everyday, and food and well-being.

Happiness is not a mystical state, but a skill that can be learned

Happiness is an infinite resource, but paradoxically it can be hard to grasp at the same time. According to the global Oracle Happiness Report of 2022, 45% of people have not felt true happiness in more than two years and 25% don’t know or have forgotten what it means to feel truly happy.

But research also suggests that happiness grows when it’s shared. Finland, as the home of the world’s happiest people, is therefore keen to help everyone find their “inner Finn”. Those not able to secure a spot at the in-person masterclass need not worry: the Masterclass of Happiness will also be made available as an open online resource in the coming summer.

Commenting on the new masterclass, Heli Jimenez, Senior Director, International Marketing at Business Finland, in a statement said,

“A question we often get is: ‘How are you so happy?’ We believe Finnish happiness stems from a close relationship with nature and our down-to-earth lifestyle: it’s not some mystical state, but a skill that can be learned and shared. Finland is full of immersive experiences amongst nature. Our energising forests, charming lakes, and vibrant archipelago landscapes are all perfect places to relax, unwind and get in touch with your inner happiness,”

“Now we want to help people find and master that Finnish state of mind. We’ve chosen the best coaches, one of the most breath-taking resorts in Finland, and a time in the early summer amid the beautiful Finnish nature for our masterclass. We feel it’s a really unique opportunity to discover something wonderful and valuable: anyone curious should definitely apply.” Jimenez concluded

The four-day masterclass will be entirely free of charge for the chosen participants. Visit Finland will also cover their travel expenses to and from Finland. Applications for the masterclass are open until 2nd April 2023 – applicants can apply individually or with a friend or partner.
