Koo Co-Founder Launches New Tech Venture, Seeks Top Engineering Talent

Mayank Bidawatka, co-founder of the now-defunct Karnataka-based social media platform Koo, is pioneering a new consumer technology venture

Mayank Bidawatka, co-founder of the now-defunct Bengaluru, Karnataka-based social media platform Koo, is pioneering a new consumer technology venture, currently in its early stages of development and explained as a “massive global idea with a huge market size.”

Bidawatka has been incubating his latest idea for years, and the time has finally come to unleash it. A small but dedicated team of seven individuals, who share his passion and vision, they’re working tirelessly to bring this long-held dream to fruition, driven by a genuine belief in its potential rather than short-term financial gains.

“Will soon start something new. It’s under wraps. It’s being bootstrapped for now. An idea that’s been close to me for many years. It’s a good time to bring it to life. Will be a consumer tech product,” Mayank Bidawatka shares update in a LinkedIn post.

Although the product’s details are still under wraps, Bidawatka is confident in its vast commercial potential. However, he stressed that the priority lies in crafting, “a beautiful product” rather than rushing to generate revenue.

This announcement came right after Bidawatka and his co-founder Aprameya Radhakrishna announced the wind-down of Koo, their social media platform akin to Twitter.

Koo had experienced a surge in popularity in India, particularly during the 2021 standoff between the Indian government and Twitter (now called X), but ultimately succumbed to financial constraints and inability to secure crucial partnerships, leading to its demise.
