Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh invests in healthcare startup ‘Wellversed’

Former Indian cricketer Yuvraj Singh, on Friday, reportedly invested an undisclosed amount in Wellversed, a healthcare nutrition provider. The investment was catered as a Pre-Series A round via Yuvraj’s YouWeCan Ventures that he had launched in 2015.

Yuvraj through YouWeCan has also invested in many other startups including Healthians, EazyDiner, Cartisan, Buddy, JetSetGo among others.

The latest investment has valued Wellversed at INR 100 crore (around $13.42 million). Besides investing, Yuvraj has taken the seat as a brand ambassador for Wellversed for the next 3 years.

The startup in a statement has also expressed that the fresh funds will be deployed towards expansion into new markets, augment technology, research and development, and strengthening the supply chain. Wellversed has garnered strong presence in metropolitan and tier-1 cities in India and aiming to expand to tier-2, along with entering international markets.

Speaking of the investment in Wellversed, Yuvraj said,

“During my battle with cancer, I realized the importance of maintaining a good nutrition regime for our overall health and wellness. Wellversed is redefining the way nutrition and food products are crafted. It is not just another nutrition brand to me, it’s a technological innovation that paves the way for a fundamental change in the entire nutrition ecosystem,”

Started in 2018 by Aanan Khurma (CEO), Ripunjay Chachan, and Aditya Seth, with the goal of healthspan maximization while pursuing his research into clinical nutrition, along with Ripunjay Chachan and Aditya Seth who are alumni of the Stanford Biodesign.

On similar lines Khurma, in a statement said,

“Yuvraj Singh has a high synergy with our brand in terms of the change that we aim to bring to the society at large. He has high faith in the intent and expertise of our team, as we take on the challenge of redefining the way food and nutrition is perceived and consumed by people,”

The products of Wellversed span across 8 nutrition regimes with its health food brand Ketofy, and claims to fulfill over 50,000 product units per month – witnessing a growth of over 250 percent in last year.

The company claims that it has catered over 12,000 health transformation plans comprising of weight loss, skin health, hair care and sexual health. Over 40 percent of the company’s revenue is direct-to-consumer through its website. Apart from this, Wellversed’s products are available across 25 online channels including Amazon, LBB, Big Basket, 1MG, Healthkart, Qtrove, Milk Basket among others.
