After the TikTok ban, the Indian startup ecosystem is witnessing a huge plethora of Indian short video creation and sharing platforms such as Mitron, Chingari, Trell, Moj and TikTik. Apart from this, similar features added by ShareChat, Roposo and many more. Now, one more app by Dailyhunt called Josh has joined the club.
Launched on 4 July, Josh that looks much like TikTok has already accumulated over 5 million downloads. The app is available in 14 languages and it enables users to upload videos, edit, share, connect and get popular, just like TikTok.
Speaking of the development, some of the venture capitalists in a press statement quoted,

“Departure of TikTok has created FOMO (fear of missing out) among growth stage companies in the content space. Although they all are shooting in the dark as no one knows how long the ban will last, short video apps are offering temporary momentum. It’s not hard to convert existing users to download but retaining them on the merit of the product will be highly challenging.”
On the other side, the popular content sharing platform ShareChat has launched Moj, Times Internet that owns a majority stake in MX Player has launched MX TakaTak and also integrated ‘HotShot’ as a feature on its music streaming app Gaana.
