Dubai-based luxury resale marketplace The Luxury Closet (TLC) yesterday on its official Instagram handle shared a video post featuring the beauty magnate Huda Kattan, founder of Huda Beauty, also notable for her charity drives, especially for the war-torn Palestine. The video features Kattan speaking about selling her luxury wardrobe for charity fundraising.
In the video, Huda Kattan is seen reflecting on her morality towards the people of the countries that are impacted by war and don’t even have basic things required for living as she mentions Palestine, Lebanon, Sudan, and Congo. Kattan clearly states that after regularly seeing what’s happening with the people of the war-torn countries, she doesn’t need much of the luxurious things anymore, rather those can be encashed for charity fundraising.
“I have been de-hoarding lately and I’ve been trying to figure out what to do, just watching so many people around the world who really need like the basic fundamentals in life, have really made me feel like I don’t want as many things,” said Huda Kattan
“Of course, I appreciate the value and especially when creativity goes into something, I really appreciate that, but I just don’t feel like I want all of these things in my space I kind of want to clear it out, especially with so much that I’ve been seeing in Palestine, in Gaza, in the West Bank, in Lebanon, Sudan, Congo. I just don’t want to find a way to contribute however I can, and if I can sell some of these things and they can help some people,” she added
She said that at present what matters to her the most is humanity which is why she is selling her luxury stuff on The Luxury Closet – the proceeds of which will be donated to Médecins Sans Frontières – MSF, a U.S.-based Medical humanitarian organization also known by the name ‘Doctor Without Borders‘.
“Right now as a human that’s the most important thing to me, and I have decided I want to, you know, sell my clothes. I want to sell it on The Luxury Closet, and I want to donate all the proceeds to MSF – Médecins Sans Frontières,”
Huda stressed that MSF is on the front lines, providing critical aid in the regions ravaged by wars. She also revealed that she has been donating to them for so many years both personally and professionally.
“They are an amazing organization who really are on the ground. I have also been donating to them personally, also professionally within our company for so many years.”
She encouraged the viewers to check the stuff that she has posted on TLC for sale.
“Many of the pieces are already live now on Luxury Closet so make sure you guys check them out,” Huda concluded
“All the proceeds for the next couple of months. I’m gonna continue to offload there, but I’m going to try to put as much as possible right now, and it’s really going to people who need help.” Huda concluded
It is worth noting that Huda Kattan has also been associated with the TLC for a long time. In 2020, she invested an undisclosed sum in TLC through Huda Beauty Investments (HBI), the private investment office of Huda Beauty.
In November last year, Huda Kattan donated a total of $1 million to MSF and another humanitarian organization called Human Appeal.
