The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi officially inaugurated its campus in the capital Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 – marking the establishment of its first foreign campus.
The inauguration ceremony was led by the crown prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed who welcomed the first cohort of 52 undergraduate students who will be pursuing BTech degrees in Computer Science and Engineering and Energy Engineering.
The cohort includes students from India, UAE, and other international backgrounds selected through the JEE Advanced examination and the newly introduced Combined Admission Entrance Test (CAET) curated by IIT Delhi for UAE nationals and residents.
It is worth noting that the establishment of the IIT campus in the UAE is a breakthrough achievement rooted in the Vision Document launched in February 2022 by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and the UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan. The Document highlights a strategic roadmap to widen the India-UAE relationship.
