Nabanita Nag, an Indian-origin lawyer and Chief Legal Officer at Norfolk Southern Corporation in Atlanta, has been terminated from her position following an investigation into allegations of a consensual romantic relationship with CEO Alan Shaw. Shaw was also fired as CEO as a result of the investigation, which centered on the purported inappropriate workplace relationship between the two executives.
Norfolk Southern Corporation has confirmed that its two high-ranking officials have been terminated due to a consensual relationship that violated company policies and code of ethics. Although the relationship was mutually agreed upon, it breached the company’s established guidelines and standards for professional conduct. As a result, both officials have been let go.
“The move comes in connection with preliminary findings from an ongoing investigation that determined Shaw violated company policies by engaging in a consensual relationship with the company’s chief legal officer. Shaw’s departure is unrelated to the company’s performance, financial reporting and results of operations.” Norfolk Southern Corporation announced in a press release:
Nabanita Nag describes herself as a “seasoned leader” on her LinkedIn profile, highlighting her extensive experience working with top-tier companies. Her profile notes that she has worked with three Fortune 300 public companies, including a stint at Goldman Sachs.
