There are a lot of opportunities for people and businesses to capitalize on sports fans’ interests. It is remarkable how invested people can get into NBA teams, MLB teams, NFL teams, soccer clubs, and every other sports league.
It can also be quite scary for athletes if they make a mistake. Sports fans are so crazed that they will send death threats via social media or other ways to someone who makes a mistake. It makes zero sense in the grand scheme of things because it is a game at the end of the day.
But that goes to show how passionate fans are and the lengths they are willing to go to make themselves feel better. That leaves a lot of people with the opportunity to take advantage of those sports fans.
There are a variety of ways to watch one’s favorite team or favorite players in the league. Here are a few ways to safely watch sports.
Cable providers
Many consumers have cut the cord on cable already. Perhaps that was too soon, though, as all the streaming sites and their fees create a great a la carte experience, but it adds up. The one area where cable providers are capitalizing on the digital space is launching their own streaming services.
The big nationwide channels – ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX, etc. – are all in the digital space, whether it is on their own websites or with a totally separate domain and app. Take NBC, for example, and its premium streaming service, Peacock. There are plenty of free opportunities to view, but they will also have content behind the paywall.
Simply logging in with a cable provider through their apps will unlock some streaming for people, and that is a huge opportunity to watch safely.
Other network bundles
One of the great things the Disney model provided was something for everyone. They have a bundle for Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu that allows people to pay a monthly rate to access all the shows on those three platforms.
What a great way for families to capitalize on streaming in a safe environment. ESPN+ is the real winner for sports fans, though. They are able to watch so many college sports, professional soccer and hockey games, tennis, and so much more. It is a relatively fair price, especially for the bundle, which also gives kids an opportunity to watch their favorite Disney shows.
Peacock has its different packages, too, including streaming Notre Dame football behind the paywall. Well, they tested that out and it seems to be heading that way as sports teams are becoming more a la carte, even.
Team packages
Each professional sports league in the United States has its own way of streaming out-of-market games. The National Football League has NFL Sunday Ticket, in which fans can choose to watch all of their favorite team’s games for a monthly or flat rate.
Major League Baseball uses MLB.TV, and they also offer an option to stream just their favorite team. It really is a great sense of value for those diehard sports fans who live away from their favorite team since blackout restrictions do apply.
The National Basketball Association also offers a team option through its NBA League Pass.
League packages
Those aforementioned league-based subscriptions also offer full packages. They are typically paid monthly and allow fans to check in on their rivals or their favorite players on other teams. A lot of sports fans have multiple interests, from college to the pros, so watching their favorite college player on another team has become an important development.
Social Media
There are some people who stream off their televisions onto popular social media platforms, such as Facebook, TikTok, and Instagram. We do not recommend a user doing this, but if they are out there on those platforms, it is free to watch until the user gets caught and they are taken down.
High school sports
The preps world is another area to watch out for. There are so many fake links from scammers, so be sure to go to the school’s official website or check with NFHS.
