Cairo, Egypt-based fitness startup ElCoach raised six-figure in a seed funding round on 18 March led by Endure Capital, 500 Startups, Wise Capital and some regional angel investors. The amount of investments hasn’t been disclosed yet and the company is planning to deploy the funds to expand its team and accelerate its marketing initiatives, particularly to tap Saudi Arabia.
ElCoach was started in 2018 by Assem Emam, Saher Hassan, Muhammad Hazem Sherif, and Hossam Bery. The startup through its mobile app in the Arabic language works on a freemium model that offers fitness programmes to its subscribers, a free plan and a personalised plan for premium subscribers. As reported by MENAbytes, Amid Covid-19 outbreak, the company is giving away its premium plan for one month.
