The California-based software development platform GitHub, a subsidiary of Microsoft today announced its operations in India under the name GitHub India Pvt. Ltd. which will be headed by Maneesh Sharma as the General Manager.

India being the third-largest GitHub community, the aim of the expansion is to help GitHub serve better to the developer community and customers across the country. The company mentioned that they will build teams across all functions like engineering, sales, support, marketing in India over a span of the next few months.
