ClickUp has acquired Codegen, an AI-powered code generation and agentic AI platform, as the company moves to deepen its investment in autonomous AI agents inside its workspace. The development came on December 24, 2025.
This follows ClickUp’s November acquisition of Qatalog, a workflow orchestration platform, as the company continues building its converged AI workspace.
The acquisition brings Codegen’s technology and engineering team into ClickUp, strengthening its recently launched Super Agents system, which the company positions as AI coworkers capable of running workflows, generating software, and executing tasks inside ClickUp with enterprise-grade permissions and audit trails.
According to the company, Codegen’s agentic AI technology will be used to expand Super Agents’ ability to complete projects autonomously, generate software, and operate with what ClickUp describes as human-level memory across more than 500 work skills.

As part of the deal, Jay Hack, Founder and CEO of Codegen, will join ClickUp as Head of AI. Hack said the key limitation to broader AI agent adoption is not capability, but access to context.

By combining Codegen’s agentic technology with ClickUp’s unified workspace, we’re not just building a smarter coding tool; we’re building a Super Agent workforce that scales infinitely across software engineering, product management, sales, enterprise workflows, and beyond,” Hack said.
ClickUp said the acquisition also strengthens its ability to compete for AI talent, adding that Codegen’s team will work closely on the continued development of Super Agents. The company recently introduced Super Agents as AI teammates that operate as real users inside ClickUp, with access to tasks, documents, schedules, and conversations.
The move follows ClickUp’s broader strategy to position itself as a converged AI workspace, where humans, software, and AI agents operate on the same platform and data model.
ClickUp said Codegen’s standalone service will be deprecated on January 16, 2026, with support continuing until that date as customers transition to alternative tools or future coding agents integrated directly into ClickUp.
