Arizona, United States-based global domain registrar, and web hosting company GoDaddy has recently made a significant investment in the WordPress community, donating $500,000 to The WP Community Collective. This initiative aims to support and empower WordPress contributors by providing financial, operational, and promotional resources. Additionally, GoDaddy has recently unveiled a revamped Managed WordPress Hosting platform, specifically designed with developers in mind.
GoDaddy’s contribution to The WP Community Collective is aimed at empowering open-source communities by providing essential resources to designers, developers, and other contributors who play a vital role in shaping the internet. By supporting these efforts, GoDaddy helps to foster the growth of the WordPress platform, allowing individuals the freedom to customize and enhance this open-source software to suit their unique needs without any restrictions.
GoDaddy President of Partners Paul Bindel highlighted the company’s long-standing commitment to the WordPress community, citing its ongoing contributions of time and funding. “GoDaddy and its employees care deeply about the WordPress community and show it year in, year out in many ways, including contributions of time and funding,” he said, “We’re focused on continuing to enhance our industry-leading WordPress platform and hope our investment of $520,000 helps other valued members of the community sustain their contributions throughout 2025 and beyond.”
GoDaddy’s support for the WordPress community extends beyond its recent investment in The WP Community Collective, as the company is also sponsoring several open-source projects designed to advance WordPress and empower its contributors.
GoDaddy is actively supporting various open-source projects through financial contributions, mentorship, and resource allocation. Notably, the company has provided funding to PHP Coding Standards ($12,000), PHP Foundation ($24,000), and the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) ($40,000) to advance PHP development and promote open web standards. Additionally, GoDaddy sponsors live captions for the WP Accessibility Meetup and participates in the Five for the Future program, supporting 46 contributors across 17 teams with a commitment of 255 hours per week, making it one of the largest contributors to the program.
Paul Bindel highlighted the company’s commitment to the WordPress community. “These monetary contributions to the WordPress community, alongside our team’s involvement through contributions, showcase how vital we believe WordPress is to the web,” he said. “We believe that anyone should be able to participate, contribute and be involved in propelling the WordPress project forward.”
GoDaddy has also unveiled a revamped Managed WordPress Hosting platform, designed to provide a seamless WordPress experience. This optimized platform handles over 80 billion requests monthly, manages more than three petabytes of data, and delivers up to two times faster performance compared to other WordPress hosting providers, along with enhanced security, isolation, and control.
GoDaddy’s revamped Managed WordPress Hosting platform is specifically designed with WordPress developers in mind, offering the flexibility of a virtual private server (VPS) combined with the simplicity and reliability of Managed WordPress. The updated platform provides several key benefits, including seamless scaling to handle traffic surges, strong isolation through containerized services and nano-segmentation, multi-layer security with hardened containers and immutable code, and real-time observability through upcoming per-site dashboards.
