The historic ‘kothi’ in Moradabad’s Civil Lines area has transformed over time. Today, it’s a 65,000 sq ft complex that houses a mini-mall, shopping complex, and school. Despite its modern uses, Sabih Khan’s relatives still reside in a portion of the property.

“We are absolutely elated at the news that one of our own will now become the COO of Apple. It’s a matter of such pride not just for Moradabad and Uttar Pradesh but for the entire country as such. What makes this appointment even more special is that he is such a fine human being too,” said Amaan Yar Khan, Sabih’s first cousin and a Moradabad-based hotelier, in a phone interview with PTI.

Amaan described his cousin Sabih as a remarkably humble person. Despite his high achievements, Sabih remains grounded and unassuming.

“He is quite elder to me, impeccable in everything he does. What’s more, even if you were to spend a week or 10 days with him, without knowing who he was, he wouldn’t throw the slightest hint that he was in such a high place. He is so rooted, humble,” Amaan said, highlighting Sabih’s down-to-earth nature.

Sabih Khan is the eldest son of Amaan’s bua. He studied at St. Mary’s School in Moradabad before moving to Singapore with his engineer father, Saeed Khan.

“He is my bua’s eldest son and studied in the city’s St. Mary’s School before his engineer father, Saeed Khan, shifted to Singapore,” Amaan said. Amaan had met Sabih in Singapore just last year and had already congratulated him on his new role as COO of Apple. Sabih, who currently lives in San Francisco with his wife and three children, is known to enjoy Indian curries and biryanis.

Mahfooz Khan, a resident of Moradabad and a distant relative of Sabih Khan, expressed his pride, saying, “I too am a distant relative of Sabih Khan, who has made all of us so proud of his achievements. Most of Moradabad now knows about him, of course, but I guess by now everyone in India is talking of him.”
