Rockstar is known for its overlong video game development timelines. And it has been over a decade since the release of the last installment, GTA V, 2013.
Rockstar Games had to roll out the first trailer of GTA VI back in December ahead of time as a low-quality copy was leaked online. The 90-second trailer garnered around a whopping 93 million views in the first 24 hours, and 191 million until now.
Take-Two Interactive reports a financial loss of $2.9 billion in Q4, according to the release.
According to the company, the last installment, GTA V has sold over 200 million copies since its release in 2013 – making it the second bestselling video game title after Minecraft, standing at over 300 million.
The Grand Theft Auto series is one of the critically acclaimed video game franchises that has achieved top ratings across video game communities. Notably, the popular video game publication, GameSpot known for its comprehensive video game industry coverage has rated GTA IV 10/10.
The GTA VI trailer is set around two characters, a Latin American woman ‘Lucia’, and a man named ‘Jason’, which are rumored to be based on real-life criminals Bonnie and Clyde. Various sources suggest that the actor Gregory Connors will be playing the character of Jason.
In December, Rockstar Games announced a deal with the OTT giant Netflix to bring several game titles under its gaming offering ‘Netflix Games‘. GTA franchise’s three titles GTA 3, GTA Vice City, and San Andreas were made available on Netflix Games in December itself.
