Gold is harder to come by in WoW: Forever than in the original Classic, and the expenses are just as steep, if not steeper. New recipes, enchants, and consumables all create extra demand for your coins, so you’ll need a plan from the first level.
The timing makes this worth getting right. Blizzard has confirmed that World of Warcraft: Forever launches on November 4, 2026, after a beta that began on September 17. Forever is a permanent third version of the game next to modern WoW and Classic, and its level cap is frozen at 60. Players will spend a long time in the low and mid levels, so demand for bags, wands, and consumables should stay high well past launch week.
You don’t need a complicated setup or a big investment to start. The methods below have held up in the beta. Prices will shift at launch, so treat every figure here as a starting estimate rather than a promise.
Questing
Questing is the easiest way to build a first bankroll, because there’s no route to learn and nothing to set up. Complete every quest available in each zone and skip nothing. With more than 1,000 additional quests across the expanded world, a lot of guaranteed gold is sitting in quest rewards. Gear you can’t use can be vendored or sold at the Auction House.
Gathering Professions
A fresh Classic+ economy is very hungry for herbs, ore, leather, and other crafting materials. With profession updates and hundreds of new recipes in WoW Forever, gathering remains a reliable source of income, especially while you’re still leveling and gearing up.
Dual Gathering:
Running a classic combo of Mining and Herbalism lets you farm both types of nodes as you casually move through the world. You can sell everything you gather on the Auction House or use it for your own crafts, saving money on materials.
If you pick the Tauren race, its Cultivation ability will spawn additional herb nodes, making your herb-collecting sessions more efficient.
Skinning:
Skinning is another low-investment option, allowing you to collect skins and hides from mobs while doing your quests or simply exploring the world. Boars in Durotar are an easy early target; Ferocious Grizzled Bears in Silverpine Forest can provide Pristine Leather that sells for a nice price at the Auction House.
Trolls can speed things up with their Beast Slaying racial, which increases their damage against beasts. You can also invest Legacy Points into Bountiful Harvest in the Professions Legacy Tree to increase the materials obtained from gathering.
Open-World Farming
Open-world farming is simple: find a zone with dense groups of mobs, kill them repeatedly, and collect valuable drops for sale.
Here are a few early options:
- Duskwood: Farm spiders and wolves for Spider Silk and Lean Wolf Flank.
- Teldrassil, Westfall, and Mulgore: Farm Fleshrippers, Strigid Owls, and Swoops for Small Eggs and Light Feathers.
- Southern Westfall: Kill Riverpaw Gnolls for cloth and other humanoid drops.
- Stonetalon Mountains: Venture Co. Operators and Loggers are another good cloth farm.
- Wetlands: Around level 20, try Mosshide Fenrunners, Mosshide Mongrels, and Mosshide Mistweavers. They are higher level than the other options, so save this farm for later.
Don’t forget to check your Auction House before committing to any farm, because material prices change frequently, especially once the game officially launches. And if you ever get tired of grinding, you can always buy WoW Forever gold and have up to 1,000 gold delivered straight to your mailbox in only one hour.
Crafting
Once you’ve farmed some mats or got enough gold to purchase them, you can produce different goods and sell them to other players. Here are a few ways to make gold through crafting in the early game:
Bags:
Tailoring is a simple early option because everyone needs more bag space. Farm humanoids for Cloth while leveling, turn the Linen into bags, and list them on the Auction House. You can also advertise bags in general chat and sell them directly to other players.
Wands:
Enchanting gives you several useful early wand options, including Novice’s Practice Wand, Lesser Magic Wand, and Greater Magic Wand as your skill increases. Casters regularly buy wands while leveling, so you won’t have any problem selling your crafts.
Consumables:
Alchemy is another reliable choice because consumables are always needed for dungeons and raids. Having Herbalism on your main or an alt can significantly reduce your reagent costs, since you can gather many of the materials yourself.
Disenchanting:
Disenchanting is a great way to squeeze value out of the gear you don’t need. You can disenchant BoE items that drop from mobs and sell the resulting materials or use them for your own crafts. You can also craft specific items purely for disenchanting:
- Brown Linen Pants give Strange Dust and Lesser Magic Essence at lower Enchanting levels. Greater Magic Essence becomes available from profession level 70. You can vendor the Essences right away. Strange Dust can be turned into Minor Wizard Oil, which vendors for slightly more.
- Heavy Copper Maul also yields Greater Magic Essence when disenchanted. You can buy the materials at the Auction House or gather them yourself. Don’t pay more than 20 silver per maul, or the margin disappears.
The Tool Worth Installing
Install the Auctionator addon. It scans listings, compares prices, helps you find cheaper materials, and shows what your finished crafts are worth. It makes the Auction House easier to manage, and it shows you whether a craft is making or losing money before you commit.
Where to Start When the Servers Open
Launch week will be noisy. Prices will swing, popular farming spots will fill up, and some guesses about what sells will be wrong. That’s normal for a game with this much attention. Newzoo forecasts that the global games market will reach $213.9 billion in 2026, up 6.1% from last year, with PC alone home to 977 million players. A new Classic+ release lands in a very large audience, and the in-game economy will reflect it.
In practice, that means starting with the basics: finish every quest in a zone, pick up a gathering profession while leveling, and check the Auction House before spending an hour on any farm. Then choose one crafting line that suits your class and stay with it long enough to learn what your server actually buys. Bags and wands are a safe place to begin, since both are needed from the first days of the game, and a price-tracking addon will show you quickly whether a craft is earning its keep.
Gold in Forever comes slowly at first and faster once you know your server’s market. Start small, reinvest early profits into materials, and adjust as prices settle after launch.
