Amazon and Whale TV, today announced the launch of Amazon MX Player on the Whale TV smart-TV platform in India, expanding access to the free streaming service across connected televisions in the country.
With the integration, Whale TV users in India can stream Amazon MX Player’s catalogue directly through the platform’s smart-TV interface. The service includes original shows, web series, movies and international titles available in multiple local languages without requiring a subscription.
The companies said the move combines Amazon MX Player’s free-to-watch programming with Whale TV’s content discovery features, allowing viewers to access entertainment on connected TVs through a unified interface.
“Whale TV was built to make great television effortless, with content discovery at the center of the experience. By bringing Amazon MX Player onto our platform, we are expanding the range of stories available to Indian audiences and making it easier for them to access quality entertainment in one seamless environment,” said Lucas Huang, VP Content Distribution at Whale TV.
The platform’s personalised home screens and recommendation systems will help viewers discover Amazon MX Player content based on viewing preferences across Indian and international programming, the companies said.
The partnership is expected to strengthen Whale TV’s application ecosystem in India while extending Amazon MX Player’s reach across connected-TV devices. Both companies said the collaboration is aimed at improving the free TV viewing experience by increasing accessibility to premium digital content without subscription fees.
