On Wednesday, December 18, the Oman Investment Authority (OIA) acquired a stake in xAI, a prominent US-based artificial intelligence firm owned by the billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk.
According to the Oman News Agency (ONA), the investment is part of the OIA’s broader strategy to expand its global portfolio and foster growth across multiple industries.
The authority announced on X that xAI, launched by Elon Musk, has marked two notable achievements: setting up a major data center in the US and unveiling its upgraded platform, Grok-2.
Abdul Salam Al-Marshadi, Chairman of the OIA, stated that this investment offers Oman a chance to leverage world-class technologies across multiple fields.
Elon Musk emphasized the significance of the Omani partnership in xAI, saying that it will “when we build together superior artificial intelligence that enables us to solve many problems.” This collaboration is expected to yield innovative solutions to various challenges.
Musk revealed that the company is nearing completion of training its “Grok 3” model, poised to become the world’s most intelligent artificial intelligence model.
xAI is a pioneering platform that accelerates the development of artificial intelligence technologies by analyzing vast amounts of information and databases. It offers sophisticated tools and analytics for large-scale models, as well as advanced capabilities for processing visual data such as documents, charts, and graphs.
Notably, the OIA also holds a stake in SpaceX, a space technology company founded by Elon Musk, which operates the Starlink satellite communications network.
