India’s OTT giant Hotstar owned by Star Network from today (11 March 2020) started streaming Disney Plus content whilst rebranding its theme. Hotstar is now streaming Disney originals including The Mandalorian, Diary of a Future President, The World According to Jeff Goldblum, One Day at Disney and High School Musical, Pick of the Litter, Lady and the Tramp, Encore, Noelle, Pixar In Real Life, Lamp Life, Marvel’s and Hero Project, One Day at Disney, Shop Class, Timmy Failure: Mistakes Were Made and many more.
According to various media reports, Uday Shankar, the president of Walt Disney Company Asia Pacific and chairman for Star and Disney India will announce the official launch of Disney Plus on the coming Friday.
It is affirmable that the international OTT giant Netflix, having a variety of international labels will have to compete directly with Disney Plus Hotstar. However, when it comes to pricing, Disney Plus Hotstar offers its yearly subscription for INR 999 and monthly for INR 299, while Netflix starts from INR 199 and goes to INR 799 maximum.
