Vishal Gondal, Founder & CEO of GOQii sued over his comments on gambling

Vishal Gondal, renowned Indian entrepreneur, founder & CEO of GOQii, has received a total of six legal defamation notices.

Vishal Gondal, renowned Indian entrepreneur, founder & CEO of GOQii, a California-based fitness technology company; co-founder of Bengaluru-based nCore Games; and also the former founder & CEO of Indiagames, has received a total of six legal defamation notices. The news is being circulated all across a number of media houses since yesterday.

Gondal in early-February shared a Tweet raising ethical concerns over online gambling apps, in light of a suicide case of a 36-year-old man from Puducherry who lost lakhs of rupees in online card games, back in October. He also specifically mentioned the Twitter handles of a few of the popular online gaming apps. The tweet said,

It has been a while since Gondal is raising the concern around online gambling. He also previously published an article on the same subject on MediaNama under the title ‘In The End, The House Always Wins: The State Of Real Money Gaming In India‘.

And on February 1, Gondal pressed a question to the government by tweeting,
