Gurgaon, Haryana-based BulBul, a social-commerce startup that lets people sell their products by leveraging its video streaming avenue, has today raised $8.7 million in an investment round led by parent Info Edge, with participation from existing investors, Sequoia Capital and Leo Capital.

Info Edge has now acquired 17.82 percent stake via 416 ordinary shares and 2002 Series A preference shares in BulBul.

The company last raised $1.5 million in April 2019 in a seed round from Surge, Sequoia’s rapid scale-up programme for early-stage startups, and 10XF, an investment arm of Sequoia itself.

BulBul was founded in 2018 by Sachin Bhatia and Atit Jain, who are also the founders of travel domain behemoth MakeMyTrip and TrulyMadly, a popular dating app.
