South Indian actress Kajal Aggarwal, on Monday, acquired a 15 percent stake in OKIE Gaming, a Mumbai-based gaming platform. The financials of the funding deal were not disclosed.
Speaking of the investment and partnering with OKIE Gaming, Kajal Aggarwal, in a press statement said,
“The gaming industry is booming at this time and this is the right time to be part of it. I have always been a passionate gamer myself, and I hope to influence and open new avenues for women gamers in India,”
OKIE Gaming is currently available on the web, and will be available on iOS and Android from mid-December, a real-money gaming platform that houses numerous games including Smart Housie, Fantasy Cricket, Smart Number Quiz, Ludo, Cricket, Rummy, and Smart Words among others.
Speaking of the development, Jitin Masand, CEO of OKIE Ventures, the parent company of Okie Gaming, in a statement said,
“She’s an involved investor who brings a unique set of ideas and insights to Okie Gaming,”
The company said that it is aiming to utilise the funds to onboard new talent and attain INR 50 crore revenue and 5 million app downloads by the end of FY20-21.
